Always the First, Never the Last

By Kariopes

February 25 is the anniversary of People Power, a holiday. Yes! No work, nothing to do but go out of town with some friends. We normally plan weeks ahead, but for some reason my out-of-towner-swimming-pool-gang were not complete that day. Even so, the rest of us decided to go ahead with our mini-gettogether at Shercon Resort and Ecology Park in Batangas.

This resort is located near La Virginia Hotel and Resort at Mataas na Kahoy. If you haven’t read my article, here is a quick link Just Another Day According to my friend, Shercon Resort was suggested to her by her co-worker, who went there for their company team building. So here we were, all ready to see what it had to offer.

There was an entrance fee of ₱250 per person, and we requested for a cottage or a table near the pools. We were given the Bougainvillea Benches, which was a quick step away from the Ecology Pool and Sophia’s Duck Pool, as well as, the changing and rest rooms. The table was ₱800 and good for 4-6pax. As soon as, we were parked and settled, we decided to take a tour of the place. We hopped in a tram that goes around the resort. One of the roving pool attendants said that we can hop in and out of it.

Our first stop, the 11 Pocket Pools and the Rice Terraces like steps. The pools are arranged that the smaller pools at the top cascades in a waterfall to the lower pools, step by step until it reaches the last bottom pool. It is a wonderful site. Beside it is the grassy Rice Terraces steps, where you can just have a picnic or gaze at the pools ahead. It is also near the Forestville Suites, which can accommodate 2pax per room.

Then there is the rows of Forestville Cabins for 4-12pax overnighters. It looks nice from the outside. The pool near-by is not that big, but has a nifty stone waterfall backdrop.

Continuing, we were set to walk the rest of the way back to our table. It was quite a laborious walk since we had to go up some steps and then follow a path going up. As such, we were all utterly hungry. We ate a bit. Rested a bit. People watched a group having a team building activity. And finally had a refreshing dip in the pools. We stayed a good long while before calling it a day.

It was another pleasant day of relaxation, discovery with some leg workout. A wonderful day spent with my day tour resort buddies. Always the first time in the resorts, but never the last.
