SunDates are reserved for family. After mass we have made it a thing to eat out for lunch mostly. It is not always easy since most of the eating establishments open at 11AM. Only a select few are open prior to this. One of our fave pick for early lunch out is Little Quiapo. It is our go to place for Filipino food.
Little Quiapo has been around since 1949 and owned by the Caleon family. Their Founding Anniversary is on September 18th, and they normally give a 50% off all their many different noodle and pasta bilaos (rice winnower used for food presentation or container) during this day. There are only 2 branches, so if you happen-by and are in the vicinity, do try them out.
In any case, let me impart to you guys my front-runner dishes that I can’t seem to get tired of. I normally order the Pansit Palabok since I can cook Pansit Bihon or Canton at home. I think, it has all the flavors that you would expect, like the creamy sauce, eggs, squid, chicharon, spring onions and a sqeeze of calamansi. It is oh so good.
The next dish, I really recommend is their Kare Kare, which can be ordered as for sharing, or as a single rice meal. The peanut sauce is so good and the rice meal is quite substancial both in rice, veggies and the meat. Just add a bit of bagoong for saltiness, and it is like heavenly…Yummers!
Then there are the Arroz Caldo and Tokwa con Tokwa (tofu) . The Arroz Caldo soup with the fried garlic and spring onions. The Tokwa con Tokwa with the onion slices, red bell pepper and the vinegary soysauce. Combine both, and it just hits the belly right and warm. Sigh.
Lastly, finish the meal with a dessert and some sweetness, Fiesta Halo-Halo. It is just divine and with a cherry to boot. Who can say no to that? Yum.
Anyhow, these are just a few of my favorites. I think, at best, I have tried only half of their dishes. There is still a list in the menu that I have yet to try. Little Quiapo is a quaint hole-in-the-wall resto that you should stop-by when in BF.
Note: Little Quiapo is located at:
Paranaque: 42 Aguirre Ave. corner Lirag St BF Homes
Quezon City: 90 Malakas St, Diliman
