Beautiful Sunday at Black Scoop Cafe

By Yelle

I am guilty and I admit it. I am a sucker for milk teas. Why isn’t it so when I am far from even being a millennial at all? Oh well, I invited my cousin to visit and eat the newly opened Black Scoop Café in our area.

It was only months ago that I would pass by the area it’s nestled now. It’s in this spacious corner along Aguirre Avenue in BF Paranaque.

The exterior and the interior of the place didn’t disappoint me. There are also ample parking spaces available for its clients. And that’s one big factor. Having an establishment along Aguirre can be challenging with regards to the limited parking situation.

The façade of this branch is a very attractive and enticing one. The trademark logo and design elements are all there. It will be very hard to miss it.

We went directly to the counter and ordered our food. Just like any milk tea place, there is the question of the sugar level of your drink. Being a sweet-toothed person, I ordered mine with 100% sugar content. My cousin ordered a bubble waffle oreo and a black mascarpone ice cream.

On my end, I opted for a large cream cheese wintermelon latte and a longganisa meal. I also asked for an iced cold water.

Everything was running smoothly as soon my cousin and I found our table at a nice corner of the café. The first name to be called was my cousin’s name and upon returning to the table, she only had her ice cream in a cup with her. We were chatting animatedly for how many minutes when it’s my turn to be called. I was only handed my milk tea. To cut the long story of our waiting, my longganisa meal came too long and so did the bubble waffle oreo.

It’s okay to wait, but the question is, how come they don’t just serve the order at one given time? I guess, it’s either they are under staff, the staff is not yet too accustomed and unlike other milk teas and coffee go to places that are more systematic and fast. By the way, there were no glasses of water given as I had requested.

It’s hard and not even proper to compare but, this is the disappointing factor.

One of the saving graces of our meal. My cousin tremendously enjoyed her ice cream!

This bubble waffle oreo is reasonably priced but its consistency and texture can already be compared to a cracker. As my cousin lamented, it’s not your anticipated waffle taste.

My longganisa meal is just like any other of its kind. It doesn’t have a different twist to it although the longganisa is on the sweet side. I would prefer it with the garlicky flavor.

As for my milk tea latte, I would give it a thumbs up! I didn’t fail my expectation. This concoction of cream cheese plus wintermelon is superb! I anticipatedly gulped on it one after the other. It’s that good.

Over-all I would say that the place has a good calming ambience, parking, and moderately priced food and drink fare.

The aspects they should work on should be on better customer service and someone could once in a while check on the clients in the café. They might need assistance. In the food fare, it would be better if they will have 100% consistently good offerings. It’s not just having good drinks, but having good food as well.

Yes, I would still go back to Black Scoop café primarily for their milk teas and lattes!
